Scholarship Information

Army ROTC Sholarhips

Worth up to $25,000 per year for tuition and fees (full tuition is covered at the U of U or Westminster College).

$1200 per year toward book expenses.

A monthly cash stipend depending on MS class (MSI - $300, MSII - $350, MSIII - $450, and MSIV - $500).

Note: Army ROTC scholarships are awarded independently of other scholarships, grants, or financial aid.

Tips for Success

Take an ACT or SAT, if not taken in the last 5 years.

Your probability of receiving a scholarship is higher if you are already enrolled in ROTC when you apply.

Obtain letter of acceptance from the college you plan to attend.

Interview with and obtain letter of acceptance from the professor of military science at the college you plan to attend.

Schedule a DODMERB physical; you must pass prior to the semester your scholarship begins (may take 6 months).

Deadline for packets to arrive at Cadet Command is 15 January.

Competition is based on the "Whole Person Concept." Strengths in one area can compensate for weaknesses in an other area.

2 - 3 Year Scholarship Prerequisites

Must be a US citizen.

Must be at least 17 years of age by 1 October of the calendar year your scholarship begins.

Must be 30 years of age or under upon graduation and commissioning.

Must have GPA 2.5 or higher (3.0 cumulative ROTC GPA if already enrolled in ROTC).

Qualify for Advanced ROTC through one of the following:
- Veteran or Reserve Duty (complete basic training if Reserve or National Guard).
- Progression (completion of four semesters of Lower Division ROTC).
- CIET (Cadet Initial Entry Training) (4 week PAID summer internship at Fort Knox, KY).

ACT score of 19 or SAT score of 920 or higher.

Two-year Master’s scholarship applicants must be accepted to a Master’s program before applying.

Physically fit and able to pass the Army Physical Fitness Test.

Pass a DODMERB physical.

2-year Master’s Degree Scholarships are also available.

Scholarship award is based on number of semesters required to graduate.

Nurse applicants have 9 separate funding sources.

Westminster College provides a free room and board incentive package for ROTC scholarship recipients, or a rebate of $2500 per year if room and board incentives not used.

4 Year Scholarship Prerequisites

Must be a US citizen.

Must be at least 17 years of age by 1 October of the calendar year your scholarship begins.

Must be 30 years of age or under upon graduation and commissioning.

ACT score of 19 or SAT score of 920 or higher.

Physically fit and able to pass the Army Physical Fitness Test.

Complete and pass a DODMERB officer physical.

High school graduate (or equivalent) before September of the calendar year the scholarship begins. If you have already earned college credits, you must have four years of college classes remaining.

Acceptance to a college or university with an Army ROTC program.

Satisfactorily explain any record of arrest or civil conviction.
